The Federal Business Energy Tax Credit (ITC) is currently 30%.
Depreciation schedules (such as the 5-year Federal Modified) and MACRS can often provide a post-tax value of 35% of the project cost, along with some states corporate income tax credits and accelerated depreciation, as well.
Performance Based Incentives are paid on Solar Systems Actual Performance of Energy Produced. Rebates of 20-30% of System Cost are Common. High Performance Systems are Rewarded.

For Residential
The government currently offers two significant financial incentives. The California Solar Initiative (CSI) offers a sizable upfront rebate. These rebates usually cover 20–30% of the total system cost. Investments in residential solar electric systems are also eligible for a 30% system cost federal tax credit.
Residential systems receive a Performance Based Incentive, the amount varies by location.
