Tariff Pause - Act Now!
Tariffs. The hot-button topic that’s been the center of many discussions this year. But how do they affect you and the solar industry? Let’s dive in.
On Monday, May 12th, 2025, it was announced that the U.S. and China had agreed to a temporary reprieve in ongoing trade tension by reciprocally lowering tariffs for 90-days. The “pause” reduces tariffs for Chinese imports to the U.S. from 145 percent to 30 percent, and China will in turn lower tariffs on U.S. goods from 125 percent to 10 percent.
While there are still many uncertainties, this temporary truce does provide a game-changing opportunity for the solar and storage industry.
Why act now?
This relief is limited: The 90-day pause provides great short-term relief for increasing prices, but there’s no telling what decisions will be made once this period is over. Committing to your project now can help you lock in lower costs and avoid future price increases.
Prices are now lower across the board: While we do prioritize American-made or low-tariff products, these reduced tariffs on Chinese components like solar cells, modules, and lithium-ion batteries will drive down global market prices. Now, manufacturers worldwide must compete with these lower prices on vital products, meaning even domestic products become more affordable.
There is ongoing supply chain uncertainty: With tariffs causing tension with trade around the globe, it creates unpredictability in sourcing quality solar and storage components. We are already seeing supply chain issues in many other industries, so it’s crucial to strike while the iron is hot to get your project moving.
The volatility in policy, solar regulations, component availability, and pricing can be difficult to navigate, but our team is ready to guide you and provide the best solution for your solar and storage needs. Call us today at (209) 668-5303 to get started!
Don’t miss this limited-time opportunity to advance your projects while these tariffs are paused!
Warm Regards,
The JKB Energy Team
